Forest Rock Taiji and Qigong Monastery School Charitable Trust
History of the Forest Rock Monastery School
The Forest Rock Taiji and Qigong Monastery School has been created from teachings and information gathered over a 20 year period. It is about concepts and principles of natural life, some of these concepts come from early Traditional Monastery Schools teachings from China.
This Forset Rock school has been established in New Zealand for over 10 years. The Forest Rock Taiji and Qigong School carries the unique philosophy and teachings of some of these ancient monastery schools.
In China the monks and nuns of some Monasteries had a community based philosophy in which they would help their local community in such things as, building and repairing village’s houses, who were without the means either to help themselves or pay.
They would tend to the homeless and the sick, as they were also the doctors of the village, administering acupuncture, Tuina, Qigong healing, and concocting herbal medicine formulas.
In some communities they were the spiritual leaders of the area and highly respected members of the community.
In some of these Monasteries the Monks, their partners and their children, lived in harmony in their community. They would spend their days learning about the Monastery philosophy, about life, inner peace and harmony. Some monasteries practiced Taiji and Qigong, meditating, chanting, performing daily worship and attending to their service in the community of the village.
Part of the Spiritual philosophy of the Forest Rock monastery explains how everything in the world has a ‘rightful place’,that everything supports itself and everything moves in continuous cycles. For example, the day/night cycle, the yearly cycle of seasons and the life and death cycles.

Part of the Forest Rock Monastery Philosophy includes seven aspects which include; Medicine, Diet, Trades, Music, Arts, and Exercise.
Its philosophy also includes ten principles, some of which are; Loyalty, Reverence, Honesty and Trustworthiness
Part of the Philosophy of the school has been handed down by teachers, and part is by experience and is now taught and upheld by the Forest Rock Taiji and Qigong Monastery School.
It is Forest Rocks’ privilege to carry on the traditions and teachings of some of these ancient practises. It is the schools’ philosophy to live in harmony with not only each other, but with all aspects of nature, the Earth we live on and the Universe we live in.
Your support helps to keep this teaching and philosophy alive, and preserves it from being loss forever.
The Philosophy is about observing our deep relentless search for inner contentment in a world that is constantly changing, where as human being we have ultimate choice. Another aspect of the philosophy is our primal desire to discover and understand why we are here, and to find inner Peace
