Instructor Profile

 It is one of Self Defence NZ’s goals to get into Secondary Schools in NZ, and help to stop bullying and violence in our school grounds, and aggression and hostility on our streets between our young men.

 
We wish to teach our young men ‘course of actions’ to take in order to avoid or extract themselves from hostile situations.

Self Defence NZ Is going to run a 2 hour introduction into Self Defence Seminars at schools, which will focus on creating confidence and self awareness. There will be discussions on a variety of situations and how to deal with them.

Self defence NZ will also be running 3 full One day courses. Stage 1, Stage 2, and stage 3 (the Advanced Course)

During the Courses techniques will be taught for breaking contact and for how to defend yourselves. These will also be demonstrated and practiced in the 2 hour Intro Seminars and are a lead into the full day Workshops for Young men.
 
 
Objectives of the 2 hour Seminars are to:
 
  • Learn concepts of Self Defence and Situational Awareness, and also Physical Self Defence techniques.
 
Objectives of the 1 day Courses are to:
 
  • Increase confidence and self assurance.
  • Learn strategies for facing and dealing with conflicts.
  • Learn practical skills for dealing with a multitude of situations where personal safety is threatened.
  • Learn how to stand up without aggression and to assess unsafe situations.
  • Gain confidence to stand up for themselves, and to make positive decisions and take actions according to the demands of the situation.

 

                       

                       

 
 
Introduction 2 Hours Seminars

During the Seminars there will be discussions on many possible scenarios & Situations
   
   Self Defence Physical Techniques
 
Physical skills and techniques will be taught and practised for contact breaking
and Self defence
(These will be taught at a basic Introductory level where no prior skills are required)
 
 
 
Stage 1 One Day Courses
 
Pre-course requirement
 
Participants must have attended one of the Introduction Seminars prior to the attending this Stage 1 course.
During the first part of this one day Course there will be revision of the information and techniques learnt at the Introduction Seminars.

During the One Day Course, there will be discussions on many possible scenarios & situations
 
 
 Self Defence Techniques
 
Techniques will be taught and practiced dealing with many common scenarios.
These will be taught at a Beginners Level, from basic, avoiding pushes, to how to defence against a knife attack.
 
Objectives of the One Day Beginners Course are:
 
  • Gain more assertiveness and self confidence.
  • Learn skills in how to avoid confrontation.
  • Develop Situational Awareness
  • Gain more understanding about Social Boundaries, Personal Safety, Self Awareness and Intuition.
  • Learn practical strategies and Contact Breaking Techniques to remove themselves for potentially dangerous situations.
