Breathing and Stances
Basic stances and Breathing
Hi, this lesson will help you learn the basic breathing technique used in the exercises and the basic stance to create good alignment to give you maximum benefit from the Qigong exercises.
One of the most important things in Qigong is your stance.
First start with feet placement.
- It is called the Horse Stance
- Feet one foot width apart
- Knees above toes
- Heels touching ground, no weight. Stand on muscles not bones
- Feet parallel to the front
- Knees Slightly bent
- Back straight
- Head string suspended from heaven. Keep your head and spine straight
Now for the breathing:
There are 4 main kinds of breathing used during the practice of Qigong. Today we are going to learn the first and most widely used - Abdominal Breathing
- Breathe out, pull stomach in, raising diaphragm. Then naturally let the diaphragm lower by relaxing the stomach muscles and the air will be sucked into the lungs.
