Taiji Weekend retreats
Next Taiji weekend August 2011 watch this place for details

Forest Rock Taiji and Qigong School already runs weekend retreats and has been doing so for over ten years, in locations such as Opoutere Beach, in the Coromandel, Miranda Hot Springs, Rotorua, Havelock North, Gisborne and Te Aroha. During these weekends, the school lives communally, practicing Taiji and Qigong, studying the Chinese Taiji Philosophy, and meditating and chanting. Also during these weekends, the students prepare, cook and eat food together.
On the weekend retreat the school studies the teachings of the school which include the ‘Seven Aspects’ and the ‘Ten Principles’.
Some of the discussion subjects are: relationships, communication, health, diet and wellbeing, individual spiritual gifts and life purpose.
Taiji and Qigong classes are conducted to discover the capability of not only the physical body, but also the energetic body. This is achieved by learning the yin/yang connection and dynamics of the body, emptiness and fullness, substantial and non-substantial; these are principles and techniques taught in the understanding of Taiji Quan and Qigong.
Participants are also introduced to Qigong meditation, such as bone breathing and mirco-cosmic orbit meditation.
Chanting practice includes: traditional monastery chants to create vibrational health and harmony.
Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts are taught. For example: Tuina (Chinese massage), acupressure, acupuncture and Qigong healing These techniques can assist in activating self- healing. In the School we study nutrition and diet, and the benefits of balance and harmony through the food we consume. We study the thermal nature of food groups (foods that are heating and cooling) and the five tastes (sweet, sour, salty, astringent, bitter). We study food combining and the best time to eat. This knowledge gives us the opportunity to obtain optimum energy and maximum life force. The weekend retreats are about community, sharing, and being part of a group. The teaching also encourages time spent by yourself, which is a tremendously important aspect in the schools philosophy.
